Like putting a V8 420 in a Geo Metro.īeyond that, I'm also trying to figure out how to connect my Panasonic DMC-FZ30 to the thing. They can be expensive though, and I'd just be worried that the rest of the scope would limit the optical quality of an expensive eye piece. The diagonal is kind of a chinsey plastic affair, maybe that's worth replacing? Beyond that, the best thing I could think of would be to get quality eye peices with a wider field of view. I also picked up a 6mm eye piece, but I think that's about the magnification limit for this type of telescope.

Right now I have all of the default equipment that came with it. Does anyone else have this scope? What improvements have you made? Eyepiece suggestions, barlow lens, custom firmware for the Autostar, etc. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on what to do with it to get the most out of it. I've had this thing since I was a kid, and now that I'm more savvy about such things, it seems like it's a fairly decent scope.Įventually, I plan on buying a new scope, but in the mean time, I think it'd be nice to try and maximize what this current one can do. The other day I pulled my Meade DS-90 (3.5" (90mm) aperture, 1000mm focal length) out of the basement and repaired it's Autostar motor system, and managed to update the Autostar controller as well.
